It is a platform where people debate topics in a structured way. You state a position, give your reasons, and answer the other side.

No. Anyone can read debates and blog posts. You need a free account to start a debate, post an argument, vote, write an article, or message other members.

Choose Sign Up at the top of the page, fill in your details and confirm your email address with the code we send you.

Log in and choose Start a Debate. Give it a clear topic, describe the question, pick a category and add a few tags. You can also open a blog article and choose Debate this article to start with the article's title and topic filled in.

An argument is your case for or against the question. Other members answer an argument with rebuttals. To answer a particular rebuttal, choose Reply on it and your answer will name the person you are replying to.

You can vote on arguments and rebuttals. Votes help the strongest points rise in the list, so vote on how well something is argued, not on whether you agree with it.

Tags are short labels that help people find a debate. Pick from the shared list. If a tag is missing, suggest one and the team will review it.

If you started a debate, you can edit or delete it from its page while you are logged in. You can also edit your own arguments and rebuttals.

The Official Blog is written by the team. The Community Blog is where members publish their own articles. Any member can write one from Write a Blog in the account menu, and drafts are kept until you publish them.

Choose Follow on a member's profile to see their activity in My Feed. Use Watch on a debate to hear when it gets new arguments, and Save to keep a debate in your Saved list. To follow topics, go to Settings and open the Preferences tab.

The bell at the top shows what has happened, in tabs for All, Unread, Activity, Watching and Account. Notifications inside the site are always on. Emails about other people's activity are off until you switch them on in Settings, in the Notifications tab. Private message emails and watch summaries are on by default. You can turn on a weekly digest there too.

No. Other members see your username on your posts and your profile. Your name and email stay hidden unless you choose to show them in the Privacy tab of your settings.

Be fair, stay on the point and go after ideas, not people. Read the Community Guidelines for what is and is not allowed.

Use the Report option on a debate, argument, rebuttal, article or comment. You can report a member's profile too. The team reviews every report, and you can choose to get an email when it has been decided.

You are always emailed when that happens, with the reason. If you think it was a mistake, open a support ticket from the Support page and say which post it is. If your account is suspended and you cannot log in, use the Contact page instead.

We only collect what the platform needs to work. Read the Privacy Policy for the details.

Yes. Go to Settings and open the Your data tab. You can download a copy of your information there, or close your account. When you close it you choose whether your debates, arguments and articles stay on the site, shown as Deleted member, or are removed too.

On the login page, choose Forgot password and follow the steps to set a new one.
